[Cinderella]
"Hmm, a nickname huh.." the girl wondered, looking at the prince again. "How about Rose? You remind me of a rose." she said, observing the prince's curls at the end of his ponytail.
"I'm fairly new too I guess, I haven't really met that many people but I've been talking to the mice that run the kitchen a lot. Learnt a lot from them too." she answered, looking around at their surroundings. "They're nice mice, and excellent cooks."
It didn't take them long before the shiny object was just within reach. There it was, caught in between the branches of a thick bush. Verre reached out for it, and it seemed the object was a small, clear marble that created rainbows from the light that passes through it. The girl played with it for a while, turning it around in her fingers.
"Look! It's like carrying a rainbow in your pocket!" Cinderella exclaimed, almost jumping up and down from her excitement.

"Rose is more than fine," he smiled, glad this new nickname was something many others used too and what he personally liked a lot. Not so much that he would have made it his official name though, but enough to be satisfied when people chose that as a name to use.
"I have been talking to the mice too! They're very polite and do their job well, even if someone like me is bothering them at the same time. And they don't even get mad if I fall asleep in the dinning room or the kitchen. That's honestly very admirable."
The prince spoke while nodding to himself a little. Indeed, the mice were maybe a little surprising cast for the kitchen work, but they did their work more than well.
Soon they were where the shining object resided. Rose stayed behind Verre, curiously trying to look what kind of thing she would find. Rose had not expected anything big like a treasure, so he was in for a surprise when he saw the marble. That definitely was a treasure.
"You're right!" the prince replied excitedly, his eyes shining a little upon looking at the marble.
"I wonder how it ended up here?"
Saying this, he looked up on the sky and saw some magpies sitting on the trees.
"Maybe it was the birds?"

The girl nodded in response to the prince's words, she did vaguely remember some of the mice mentioning someone sleeping in the kitchen.
"Oh yeah! They sure are polite! I've been getting culinary tips from them too!"
"Hmm yeah it does look like it might be the birds. A pity they didn't hold on to their treasure well.. But I guess lucky for us for finding it!" Verre exclaimed, still turning the marble in her hand.
She stopped to look at the prince, and noticed how he seemed to be interested in the marble too. '..Hmmm' Verre thought, tilting her head as she stared at Rose.
Smiling, the blonde requested, "Rose, could you please put your hand out?"

"That's so nice of them! I heard a rumour someone's cats are very eager to eat the mice though... I hope they will be alright," he mused. He hoped the poor cooks would not end up food themselves.
"Maybe they wanted someone to find it instead?"
He knew birds were intelligent, but usually they didn't give their treasures to just anyone. Then again, both he and Verre had tales involving the affection of birds, so maybe they were a special case.
Lost in his thoughts, the prince soon realized the girl was staring at him. However, before he had the time to ask, he was told to hold out his hand. Obedient prince as he was, Rose did as told.
"Like this?"

"Oh no.. That would be terrible! But I'm sure the mice know how to defend themselves.. If not, I will stand guard outside the kitchen doors." Verre said, furrowing her eyebrows in determination.
"Yeah like that." The blonde nodded, holding the prince's palm open with hers, she places the newly found treasure in the middle of Rose's palm. Then, she gently guides his fingers to close up on the marble like a clam with its pearl.
"You should have it, after all I was the one that dragged you in here. A-and I think maybe, the birds meant to leave it for you." Cinderella said in a sing-song voice, beaming at the prince.

"Count me in too! I won't stand seeing good people getting hurt... Er, I mean, good mice!" he declared and the usual tiredness was almost completely gone from his voice. He had been walking and talking so much the tired demeanour was slowly wearing off. He was still sleepy, true, but not as drowsy as majority of the time.
Then, after holding out his hand for the girl, Cinderella placed the marble on his hand. Rose watched it in confusion and then turned his still confused face to Verre.
"I-I..." he started and blushed a little. He felt kind of bad at first, but looking at the girl, he calmed down. She was giving the marble to him because she wanted to, so it was okay.
"Thank you. I will make sure to treasure it," the prince then replied and bowed a little, putting the marble inside his pocket. He would give it a better place later on though, it deserved a place where it could be seen.
After this, he looked around: "What now... I think we really are lost."
Despite his words, the prince didn't sound sad or even too concerned about it.

The girl just stared back at the prince as he tried to say something, but stopped himself. She decided not to ask him about it, it was probably just a surprise for him to receive the marble. But Rose seemed happy to get it and that made Verre feel warm inside.
She nodded enthusiastically, "Be sure to treasure it! It's a gift from the birds after all!"
Verre followed suit and looked around as well, "Hmm..I guess we are.." she replied, "Maybe we can follow our path back..?"
Ah but there wasn't a clear path at all, there might've been one but somewhere along the way the duo must've stepped away from the path to get the marble.
"Hmm..I wonder if it would be alright for us to stay here for the night.." the girl pondered out loud. Forests were pretty safe in her books, they were where the birds and squirrels lived after all!

He tilted his head a little, but the small smile still remained on his lips.
"It's also from you too, not just the birds," he stated, trying to convey his gratitude into his voice. Although receiving the marble was seemingly a very small thing, the prince was truly moved by it. After all, it was the first gift he, the current reincarnation, had received from another character. His birth blessings were a different thing because they came from his story.
"Yeah, I think we can stay here," he then stated while nodding in agreement. It was warm anyway.
"We should take a nap. That's the way I always deal with my problems!"
He grinned and moved his cape a little. "We can use my cape as a blanket, if you want"

Verre just smiled back at Rose, she was glad he wasn't mad at her for dragging him into the forest. In fact, he seemed to be enjoying himself too.
"A nap?" the girl questioned, tilting her head slightly. "..Okay!" she said after a slight pause.
Verre watched as the prince offered his cape as a blanket, "That sure looks comfy! Thanks for sharing!"
"Maybe we could sleep under that tree over there?" Verre suggested, pointing at a dense tree a little further away from them. It would be enough to shelter them from the sun if they were to sit under it.

As if to reply, the prince yawned a little. He did cover his mouth with his hand though, so it didn't look all that rude. Besides, he was starting to get a little worn out from all this walking around. And the sun was shining nicely too and it was warm...
The more he thought about it, the more tired Rose got.
"It is, I always use it as my blanket," he explained happily waved his cape around with his hand.
"Oh, that's a good idea! Sunstroke would not be a nice thing to get... or sunburn for that matter."
The prince nodded Verre to follow him and walked over to the tree. Then he took his cape away from his shoulders; he was not going to be the only one to use it this time.
"It's a shame we don't have another blanket, I mean cape, to lie down on. But luckily the ground seems very clean so it should be alright!"
Saying this, he sat down.

Verre followed after the prince, who seemed to be more than ready to take a nap. It was warm and comfortable, a perfect time to rest.
"I don't mind sitting on the ground! I do it quite a lot actually.." she said, laughing to herself. That's a very improper trait of her indeed, nothing like the princesses or queens from the other stories.
She sat down beside Rose, a little too energetic to fall asleep fast and instead, stretched her legs all the way out so her feet were under the sun and started wiggling her toes again.
Verre looked at Rose beside her, she thought she should talk to him.. But it seemed like he was more than ready to fall asleep though. Maybe it was better to let him fall asleep peacefully, Verre concluded.

He placed the cape so that half of it was on his lap and half of it on the girl's. After this, he would have been more than ready to go to dreamland, but he noticed Cinderella looked like she had something to say. Eyes half open, he decided to speak at least a little before sandman would get him for good:
"Do you usually stay in the neutral zone's castle? Or do you go to your own land?"
Rose himself stayed most of the time at the castle. It was such an effort to get back to the land of his story, so the prince just stayed. Sometimes he even slept in the actual guest rooms, but most of the time he was just sleeping wherever. Sometimes he would find himself from a different place than where he fell asleep to.

[Cinderella] Verre arranged the cape on her lap, she was surprised by how comfortable the prince's simple cape was. It was so soft it almost made her sleepy too.. Maybe that's why the prince falls asleep so easily?
The barefooted princess-to-be jumped as Rose seemed to have woken up from his drowsiness for a moment, "Hmm? Oh, I usually stay in the neutral zone.. I don't really want to go back to my stepmother and stepsisters.." she finished off quietly.
She often comforted herself by telling herself they weren't that bad to her, and that her chores were just what needed to be done in the house. Of course, the chores weren't what bothered her, it was how they treated her. Sometimes she wondered if they even see her as a human being.
Verre shook her head to get rid of those darker thoughts. She was in the forest now, far away from home, she shouldn't worry about them now.
"E-erm how about you?" the bright-eyed girl asked, looking straight at the other.

"Me too!" he replied happily and put his hands together.
"I rarely visit my own kingdom, mostly because I enjoy it here. I already know everyone from my own story so talking with other stories is very exciting!"
After this, he yawned and leaned against the tree, adjusting himself to a position more comfortable. He was starting to get so very sleepy.
"Since we both almost live there... we should meet up more often too.." he mumbled, still smiling but his eyes were now half closed.
"That would be fun."

"Ah that's nice!" Verre replied, "I haven't really met that many people yet but there's so many things to do here too.." she answered in between yawns.
Verre nodded, "yeah we should, today has been pretty fun too.."
She pulled the blanket in closer to her and held it in place with her hands. Verre leaned on the tree slightly slanted over to Rose's direction. Maybe it was because of Rose's influence or the soft blanket covering her legs but Verre was sure she would be able to fall asleep soo-
And the girl nodded off, her feet still in the sun.
